Who is this training for?
Stories, Songs, and Stretches!® is for anyone who works with preschool and/or early elementary age kids on a regular basis, or who wants to learn how to use the program with kids and families. This includes teachers, librarians, early childhood educators, social workers, university extension agents, and yoga teachers, among others. Nearly everyone who works with young children can earn continuing education credits when they attend our workshops.
I’ve heard of yoga, but I’ve never taken a class. Can I participate?
Absolutely! Though some experience with yoga will be valuable to trainees, no prior experience with yoga is necessary for our workshops. No matter the education or experience trainees have when they enter this training, all will leave with a deeper understanding of preschool early learning and how yoga can be used intentionally to support that early learning through embodied play.
Why should I certify?
Only certified facilitators may use the Stories, Songs, and Stretches!® name and logo. Being a certified facilitator recognizes you as dedicated to the program principles and skilled in their implementation. Certified facilitators gain access to:
- a private video library of pose demonstrations and early learning activities
- branded and customizable marketing templates
- an online community of practice
- the right to use the Stories, Songs, and Stretches!® name and logo
What makes this certification different from other kids yoga training?
Great question! This training is uniquely focused on the early learning of preschool children, ages 3 to 6, and should be seen as supplemental to other children’s yoga trainings. Our program is fully recognized by Yoga Alliance as Continuing Education in Teaching Methodology, however, we are not part of a Registered Children’s Yoga School (RCYS) at this time.
Is financial assistance available?
Yes! We provide a Vividhatā Scholarship to every one of our public and online trainings. This scholarship is open to any person of color who works with young children who would like to participate.
For organizations interested in bringing us to their location who do not have the budget to cover our fee, we recommend collaborating with others in your area who would also benefit from this training. We are all working toward the same mission – helping young children reach developmental milestones and achieve school readiness. Working together to pool resources for a joint training is a great way to begin a collaboration that can last well beyond the training session.
